The 3rd Triangle Soft Matter Workshop will be held on Monday August 22, 2011

in Murray Hall G202 on campus of

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

The goal of this workshop is to spark interactions and collaborations between the research groups in the Triangle area.  The workshop format is very informal, and an emphasis is placed on spurring conversations between researchers in all areas of soft matter research. “Soft matter” here is defined very broadly, and it includes (but is not limited to) work in polymers, colloid science, synthetic and naturally occurring biomaterials, and condensed matter physics. To facilitate interactions, all participants are encouraged to give short Soundbites of their current work and  Posters with more details.

Registration: Early registration is vital as we need to order meals and parking. You will also have an opportunity to register on site at a slightly higher fee (see below). We look forward to seeing you in August!

EARLY REGISTRATION: (Deadline August 10) The registration fee is $30.

SOUNDBITES: (Deadline August 17) EVERYONE who attends the workshop is encouraged to give a 2-3 min update (soundbite) of their current work. If you wish to present a "soundbite", please send the presentation (1-2 slides) to the workshop coordinator Grace Kennedy (gek"at"unc.edu) as soon as possible. You can also upload your presentation through the meeting website using the link “upload” in the upper right corner of our webpage. We are going to compile all presentations into a PDF document which will be accessible on-line.

POSTER SESSION: (Deadline August 17) We will have a poster session during coffee breaks throughout the conference. There will be forty 40”x60” poster boards available. If you wish to present a poster, please notify the workshop coordinator Grace Kennedy (gek"at"unc.edu) as soon as possible.

PARKING: (Deadline August 17) We will have a limited number (~50) of parking slots on campus reserved for the workshop participants. If you wish to reserve a parking slot, please notify the workshop coordinator Grace Kennedy (gek"at"unc.edu) as soon as possible. Carpooling is advisable.
